May 14, 7:00 PM - 72 Hour Kit Improvement Night

72 HOUR Kit Improvement Night: I CAN DO THIS!
Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 pm
at the church

This is going to be a night for everyone! Whether starting from scratch and buying just a box of granola bars  or adding extra emergency supplies, we ALL can improve our 72 our kits. It's on the back of all our minds, and this is the night to put it into action!

This is what we plan on doing:

  1. We have gone to local stores and hand picked with the most inexpensive and beneficial items in mind from our local Dollar Tree, Walmart, and Sam's Club. We put them all on a list in an order form.
  2. Print off the order form HERE. Decide what would be best for your family to add to your kit. Keep in mind this is just to get you by during the first 3 days of a major disaster. CLICK HERE for photos of some of the products on the order form. The food items are intended to be switched out every 6 months. A good way to remember is to do it during General Conference (April and October). Remember, the purpose of these items is to have something that you can grab and go in just a few minutes that will get you by until further assistance.
  3. Turn in the sheet with the money to a member of the RS presidency, and we will purchase everything for you and bring it to the activity on May 14. Easy as that!
  4. A few of the items need to be purchased by MAY 5 (they are marked on the sheet). If you are not interested in those items, Sunday MAY 12 is the deadline for the forms and money. Make checks payable to Ginger Thompson.
  5. Come Tuesday, May 14 and bring your bags to fill up and assemble and get a peace of mind! See other displays to get inspired to get more prepared.

  • Empty Milk Jugs and Soda Bottles are a great economical way to store each family member's food (1 milk jug per family member) and water (soda bottle) for the kits. (Thanks, Pinterest!) If you don't have bags or backpacks already, start setting your jugs and bottles now - wash them thoroughly and let them dry upside down for a few days and then bring them to the activity and we can fill them together on the 14th.

  • Interested in making a "GO" binder? HERE  is a blog that has templates you can use when you assemble yours. It is recommended to keep it in a fireproof/waterproof safe that can be purchased online.

  • Come and be inspired from others, roll up your sleeves, and put your mind at peace! Looking forward to supporting each other in this very important aspect of our lives!
